Foraging Workshops in Hampshire & West Sussex

Explore seasonal plants, wild herbs, and nature connection on guided walks.

Learn to Forage

Join me on the South Downs, near to Petersfield in Hampshire & West Sussex, for guided foraging walks. Explore stunning natural landscapes while learning the names, uses, and stories of the plants and fungi you find along the way.

What is Foraging?

Foraging is the ancient art of discovering and harvesting food, medicine, and useful plants from the wild—a practice our ancestors relied on long before shops existed. I’ve spent a lifetime learning where these wild treasures grow, and I love sharing this knowledge with others.

Modern foraging reconnects us to nature, slows the mind, and nourishes the body. Walking, exploring, and discovering wild plants is not only calming but joyful—a chance to pause, play with the natural world, and breathe fresh air.

Foraging improves your lifestyle, adds excitement to meals, and supports emotional wellbeing. It’s a mindful practice that can be enjoyed alone, with friends, or with children, helping instil a lifelong love of the natural world.

Forage for Food

No matter the season, there’s always something wild to forage and add to your diet. Wild foods are nutrient-rich, sustainable, and delicious—free from pesticides, packaging, and long journeys from faraway farms.

Nature is abundant with tasty roots, leaves, mushrooms, berries, nuts, and more!

On my workshops, you’ll learn to safely harvest these wild ingredients, discover traditional uses, and explore ways to preserve your finds to enjoy all year round.

Forage Safely

Many people worry about foraging alone—and with good reason! Wild foods can have deadly look-alikes, and plants and fungi change dramatically through their lifecycles. That’s why learning slowly, from an expert guide, is essential.

On my workshops, I teach both the delicious wild foods and the ones to approach with care, helping you build confidence and knowledge safely. With the right preparation—dressing appropriately, knowing the land, and taking your time— foraging becomes a joyful, life-changing way to spend time outdoors.

The key to truly safe foraging is time: time to study each plant, observe its growth, and learn about any dangerous look-alikes. Over time, wild foods become familiar faces, easily recognised just like blackberries or acorns.

For those ready to dive deeper, I offer taster experiences and dedicated six-week courses—perfect for learning a lifelong skill safely and confidently, whether foraging alone, with friends, or with children.
